Gentle Water Rabbit

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

We hope this greeting finds you well.

Our annual acknowledgement of the beginning of the Lunar New Year begins with this fairy:

Beneath the title of "Fairy of the Gentle and Peaceful Water Rabbit sits a brown rabbit in a blue background and 3 speech bubbles that say "Easy healing" "and beautiful love" and "Have Fun"

The We’Moon 2023 datebook says ‘Rabbit year can be a time of peace, calm and healing after the dynamic Tiger year…during Rabbit year, enjoy living an artistic life in the beauty you create and share with others."‘

Ah, I love it. I could feel the shift in me as I drew this rabbit and whenever, I feel a little stress, I look upon this image and I shift back to ease.

I hope you can feel it as well. Have fun!

Love, Emily and the Fairies

P.S. In Vietnam they celebrate the year of the cat which Kelly Kaeding of the Vermont Center for Acupuncture and Wellness writes about in a beautiful and inspiring blog. Here it is.

A Cat Fairy may still be coming and/or a reprise of my long awaited paper mache cats.

Connecting to Our Pink Universes

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

Happy New Year!

“The month of January is for getting over the holidays.'“ said my friend Julia many years ago when we were in our early twenties traveling with the Bread and Puppet Theater. I think about her statement every year when we get here and it makes me laugh.

Now, it’s less about the stress of the holidays, though the capitalistic hold on them can be stressful, but more as an awareness that here in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s winter. It’s an invitation to be quiet, rest more and feel more inward.

Last Summer, I was reunited with Julia and we worked on a dance piece with our longtime creative friend, Alexis Smith, created by Bread and Puppet’s Peter Schumann. In it, there’s a Pink Universe and when creating a ‘thank you’ card for Julia, I made this fairy:

On a white background is a circle containing the words "Fairy of the Pink Universe", under, a single line drawing of a fairy with outstretched arms and a pink dress with two speech bubbles on either side with the words "We" "are here" in them.

So, here we are, Julia, in January, and I have been thinking so much of this Pink Universe Fairy and what message she brings to us.

Last Friday, by the end of the day, I was feeling flat. My emotional landscape had been used up like a balloon losing air and was flapping about in the wind. I always want to feel bright about my future, but that vision, I just couldn't find.

Luckily, I took my sad self into a room, sat down with a pen and paper and with my non-dominant hand drawing technique, I connected with what was left of myself. And, through this, I got the message:

The pink universe lives in all of us, all of the time. It’s where we keep connected to our selves, so when we start to get flat by giving too much, we’re reminded to shift into lower stress activities that we know fill us back up.

So, I hope you connect into your personal Pink Universe as much as you can, and have a wonderful January.

All the best,

Love,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

p.s. Our capitalistic note of gratitude- Thank you Seven Days for popping us into the Holidays by including us in the Gift Guide. We had a great time selling our decks on-line, at Thirty-odd on Pine Street and at the Waldorf Holiday Fairy in Shelburne. Thank you all who took part in these opportunities.

This trend is continuing. We have more decks in our online stone and we’re continuing to be at Thirty-odd. Buy a deck for a dear friend today to assist them with their Pink Universe style of life.

Adelante!!!

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

I hope this finds you enjoying this time that celebrates gratitude. I’m thankful for you and how these fairies bring us together.

Here’s a fairy for today:

'The Fairy of Adelante!' is a fairy with outstretched arms, big smile, bright red heart that has two speech bubbles on either side holding the words 'Live with a sense of forward.'

This fairy makes me smile! Isn’t it easy to feel things are slipping backwards? This fairy shifts it all into a different, more positive place.

Life moves in cycles and many of the fairies can find relatives in the Bluebird Fairy Deck. Today as I look at the ‘Fairy of Adelante!’, I’m thinking of “The Fairy of Smiling and Being Okay” who has a speech bubble with one word, ‘Forward.’

That’s where Bluebird Fairies is moving these days as our decks are featured in the Seven Days’ Holiday Guide (see below) along with many great Vermont gifts.

We’ll be at the Holiday Fair at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School in Shelburne, Dec 2-3. Find us there on Friday, 6-9, and on Saturday,10-2. We’d love to see you there and have you pick your ‘Fairy of the Day!’

New! Our Fairy Decks can be found at Thirty-odd, the marvelous gift shop on Pine Street.

So, you see, we’re excited about moving forward into this season. This is, however, just a fraction of the beauty of Bluebird. I’ll be in touch closer to the Solstice with more magic from the energies around us.

Be well as you move gently forward.

Love,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Fairy Support from Afar

Hello New and Ongoing Friends of Bluebird Fairies

I hope you are all doing well.

Last weekend I had an exciting Fairy Card Reading. It was in East Orange, Vermont at the Hutchinson Cemetery where my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandparents are buried.

This cemetery is up a rocky road named Rock Place and a lot of the graves stones have been moved to a more accessible cemetery. My imagination easily allows me to feel that these relatives of mine have been waiting for their granddaughter to return to Vermont to find them.

This is the fairy that appeared when I asked Mehitable to pick one from my fairy deck:

The 'Fairy of Chirping Happy Birds' is a jolly fellow with two speech bubbles by his sides that say "Lighten Up" and "Enjoy Being You".

What a great message!!

These fairies were first drawn to cheer me on with my living. It’s been one of my greatest life experiences to feel how wonderful it is to share my drawings with others.

Does this fairy resonate with you today? Can you relax all the concerns fluttering around you and enjoy being you in this one and only now?

Let’s do it!

Love,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

The Fantastic Flamingo Fairy

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

It’s Labor Day here in the United States and, once again, it finds me at work preparing for sharing the Bluebird Fairies studio with all who stop by during Burlington’s South End Art Hop which begins this Friday September 9th and goes through Sunday.

I’m SO excited! When I last wrote, you met the Weaving Fairy. Well, a few days ago, the first warp I’ve woven in over 8 years was cut from my loom and the fabric I created was revealed. The first thing that leapt out was a project I’ve been envisioning ever since my floaty toy popped at the lake. Here’s a fairy inspired by the creation:

A pink flamingo with white wings floats in blue waves. A hat with green and gold is on its head. A red background eases on either side into yellow. Speech bubbles hold the flamingo's words "I will support emotional ease with slow movements and ease."

Now, that’s a pretty amazing fairy, isn’t it? Just wait till you get to end of this post and see what inspired it!! And…if you’re really excited, I bet you’ll find your way to Bluebird Fairies during Art Hop or after to meet the creation.

So, do find me! I love chatting about new and old fairies and all the other drawings that come out of my non-dominant hand drawing technique.

The Art Hop folks suggested we have some offerings at our studios.

Here’s what I’m offering:

Saturday between 11-1 I’ll be doing multiple performances of my 5-minute Crankie Show, “Accomplishing Big Things”.

On Sunday between 11:30-1:30 I’ll be conducting The Inner Goose Certification Workshop. If you haven’t experienced it before, it’s a short interactive event that uses facts, actions and lessons about geese to emphasize good community practices.

Throughout Art Hop we’ll be having a sale on Magic Fairy Decks. These decks are just $25 and, well, they’re magic!

Looking forward to seeing you!!!

Love
