Onward and Upward

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

Once again I’m enrolled in the Women’s Small Business Program (WSBP) at Mercy Connections in Burlington, Vermont.

Last year I participated in the 15-week program and received a “certificate of participation” for my deep struggle to package the innovative projects that comprised my work history for the past 18 years.  Around week 10 we did an exercise called “Hot Seat”.  My classmates and I took turns introducing anything we wanted feedback on. We then peppered that person with comments and questions.  I introduced my “other handed” personal drawing project and said “My friend Stephanie Salmon thinks these fairies are worth sharing with others. What do you think?”  The conversation that followed ignited a spark that has grown into my Bluebird Fairy Project.  The darkness is now slinking away like a scribbled demon that’s been given a name and been appeased by its perfect antidote.

On February first the Women’s Small Business Program begins and so does my steady march towards a business plan.  This will take creativity and discipline to achieve.  For this reason I’m delighted to announce that the Fairy of this Blog posting is:

In the past I have not done this enough.  I suspect you might share with me a hesitation to let the reins of your life slip from your firm grasp.  Today I’ve already had 15 minutes.  Tomorrow I hope to do the same.

Last year in the WSBP I was introduced to John Cleese’s lecture on creativity.

In a shower of “How many _____ does it take to screw in a light bulb?” jokes he gives his recipe for creativity.  He delightfully emphasizes the huge importance of having periods of time in which one can be “open” and playful.  It is in these unrestricted times he feels our best thinking comes.  Then you go into a “closed” mode and do the things you thought about doing.  Then you open back up to reflect and refine.  On it goes till you’re done.

So, my friend, lie on the couch.  Today and every day.  Just a little. With some abandon.

Thank you for supporting this project moving forward.  Your words and comments are immensely helpful.

Those of you in the Burlington area, please join us for the February 6th First Friday event at The S.P.A.C.E. Gallery on Pine St.

The Fairy Booth will be up for Fairy Card Readings.  Come have a fairy card reading done, purchase your own Fairy Deck and individual Fairy Cards or select one of our new “love” packages.

Take care.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Fairy of the Sun

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

So soon in my proposed blog writing schedule I took a little snooze.  Luckily, my dear bird friend gave me a little nudge with her wing. I’m quite thankful for this because the Fairy of this Blog posting is a fun guy to meet.  Please join me in welcoming...

Black fairy band.jpg

I’ve just returned from a short walk on the land where I live.  I saw deer tracks, big cat tracks, my tracks and Brian’s too.  I marvelled at the creek; a frozen, white and glistening ribbon curling easily through the sunny, snowy landscape.    Beneath the brilliant blue sky I stilled my body to drink it all in.

We all know life is not always so brightly lit.  For me, this glorious day has arrived after several days of revealing and, overall, helpful darkness.

Today when I drew this Fairy from my deck I recalled the day I created him with a fine tip marker on an index card.  Eagerly I wrote the words naming what I felt and knew I needed. They lurched and tumbled out leaving barely any room for the fairy they were bringing to life.  After fitting him in on the bottom of the card I looked and thought ‘He looks so odd!  Maybe he can go someplace I don’t see him often’.

Many months later I find that I have a great fondness for him. To me he seems like a small, powerful, happy guy who like the sun relentlessly shines for us all.

How does the Fairy of Getting Through by Trusting in the Sun” resonate in your life, dear friend?

Contact me with your stories and questions.  I love to hear them.  Soon I’ll share with you some of the many amazing ways people are connecting with the fairies.

Interested in your own Fairy Deck? Please go to our on-line store.  Interested in an individual Fairy Card?  Contact me.

We’ll be in touch soon with another Fairy.

Be well.

Fairy of Secret Gardens

Hello Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

Happy New Year! I hope you are all well and moving forward with smiles in your hearts.

One of my goals this year is to move into prosperity.  My boyfriend Brian and I have allowed the number 8 to hold the hope for us to successfully move our efforts and talents into spaces that allow us to attain our financial goals. That's why I write these blogs on the 8th, 18th and 28th of each month.  What, Dear Friends, assists your efforts to move forward into your goals?

Today, the Fairy of the Blog is:

There is a secret garden near my home I enjoy sharing with friends.  Every visit there is different and yields a new understanding of this place and the people I'm with.

There are many unexpected Secret Gardens that one can find if ready and aware.  I live a fairly structured life.  Oh, as a friend of fairies you can be sure it's odd in many ways.  Regardless, I set out a pretty structured plan for each day and follow it.  Luckily I live in wonderful, rural paradise so my attention gets pulled easily away for moments of “secret garden wonder”.  The birds, the trees and the creek around my home are its agents.

How and where does the Fairy of Secret Gardens resonate with you?  Do you have one or some in your life?  Are you open to finding more?  What possibilities do you seek there?

My friends Kate and Ted out in Tucson Arizona have an incredible Secret Garden called The Land with No Name: A Sanctuary for Homeless Sculpture.

Here's Kate:

"Here's a picture from the land yesterday.  That tractor stopped me in my tracks.  It had fairy words on it!!!  Clarity ringing out over the land."

Thank you for sharing life with us!

Be well and as prosperous as you desire.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Fairy of Clarity

Dear Friend of the Bluebird Fairies,

Hello.

We're closing in on the end of 2014.  Here are my 'thank yous' for the remarkable things that have happened to us this year.

Firstly, thank you to all who came to the Fairy Booth at the SEABA Center and bought Fairy cards and Fairy Decks.  Thanks, also, to all of you who sat down and had a Fairy Card reading.  It was incredible to experience the easy, positive ways these fairies reflect back the strength, wisdom and life experiences of the people they meet.  During our short sessions questions were answered and hearts were set at ease.

We're looking for future venues for the Fairy Booth and will keep you informed of upcoming opportunities to visit it.

Secondly, 'Thank you universe!' for humoring a wish I had at a summer party where I saw a guy doing card tricks.  At that time I was transitioning from my job at VSA Vermont and thought 'Wow, if only I could have a gig changing the atmosphere of a place with a deck of cards.'  I had no idea this Fairy project of mine would provide an answer to this wish.  So, friends, keep on wishing.  It's fun to see where these good thoughts end up.

And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for the Fairy of the Blog.

Oh, it’s no surprise she’s come to visit us here.  I’ve been receiving the Fairy of Clarity often.  She assures me I’m on the right track in my thinking and doing. Her multiple visits are encouraging me to set goals and intentions for the New Year.  The clearest one I have is to write a business plan for 'Bluebird Fairies'. Having seen me put that declaration into electronic writing she can now sit back.  The other fairies in the Fairy Deck will support my process.  You'll see the results a few blogs from now.

What, Dear Reader, does the Fairy of Clarity mean to you?  Where does she resonate?  What area of your life is she bringing light to?

We hope you'll take a moment to think this over. It’s a perfect time of year to collect wishes and take steps forward.

If you'd like fun support for this process please consider a Fairy Consultation.  They're short, easy and very affordable. Please email me and we'll work out the details.

Bluebird Fairy Decks are also available for purchase at our on-line store. To celebrate our successful year we're having a sale; $5 off the regular price of either a deck with a bag or one without.  The coupon code is 'yes'.

We are all wishing you a wonderful New Year!

Onward we go.

Love,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

The Good Energies of the Winter Solstice are Here

Hello Bluebird Fairy Blog Readers,

I hope this posting finds you well and in good spirits.

I am pleased to announce that I have a Fairy Booth at the SEABA Holiday Artist Market for the entire month of December. This handsome new structure nicely displays our 63 Fairies and serves as a sales booth.   It also gives me a fun place to conduct one-on-one Fairy Card Readings on Saturday afternoons.  I am enjoying these easy and unique conversations with people.

As stated in my previous blog I will be drawing a Fairy for each of my postings.  These will either be from the existing Fairy Deck or something new.

This blog's Fairy is 'Good Grandpa'.

My Mother's father loved to proclaim his love for us, his grandchildren.  His hugs were so strong we squealed that we might break yet the whole while we were soaking up his devotion.

This man, Claude Samuelson, was the biggest builder of my confidence.  Whatever project I shared with him he'd listen to, give advice and then tell me I'd make it through.  The energy with which he said that, in part, made it true.

It is this love and confidence I tap into now as I venture into a new phase of life growing enterprises and innovative projects with others.

What does the Fairy of Good Grandpa mean to you?

Where does he resonate in your life?

We are wishing you a wonderful holiday season.  Please stop by the SEABA Artist market next to Speeder and Earl's at 404 Pine Street in Burlington to see the Fairy Booth and the marvelous work of the artists we’re sharing the space with.

Fairy Card Readings will be offered there on Saturday the 20th and 27th from 11-5.  Purchases of cards and decks can take place there as well.  Fairy Decks can be purchased from our on-line store.

Also, on Sunday December 21 from 12-4 a Fairy Salon and Welcoming of Winter will take place at the round house where I live on Lewis Creek in Hinesburg.  For more information about that click here to reach our events page.

Thank you so much for reading.

With great cheer,

Emily of Bluebird Fairies
