The Bridging Fairy

Hello Everyone,

I hope you're doing well as we enter the warmer, greener times.

I'm one of those people, and I know there are many of us, who juggles several jobs because I'm an artist and I work in social services.  For the most part, I try to keep these roles separate but, as my art work is so connected to supporting me as a human being, sometimes there are nice overlaps.

The culminating program for the high school program I coordinate out of Champlain Community Services took place last week.  Afterwards, Blythe Leonard, the woman whose brainstorm created this program many years ago wrote:

"Bravo Emily.  You bring such wonderful energy, joy and thoughtfulness to this program.  The students said it so well this evening. You help them connect with each other and with their community.  You are our Bridging Fairy."

So, today I bring to you this fairy:

May 'the Bridging Fairy' with her words of "Yes, you can be you!"  assist us all in bridging the many aspects of our lives together in our unique ways.

Some photos of me, Melanie Webb and materials taken by Mike Reilly.  Many more pictures of this student event can be found on the CCS  Facebook page.

Onward and upward, friends.

All the best,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Twilight Powers of the Violet

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

As our Northern US worlds fill with green, I'm taking note of the wonderful Violet flowers that fill the patio of the home where I live.

Last year I was moved to create a fairy for them incorporating the wisdom of Ted Andrews from his book; Nature-Speak

I hope this fairy speaks to you as you move forward in your days keeping things simple and finding your nearby opportunities.

I was just given a wonderful book by a dear friend of Bluebird Fairies.  It's one of Cicely Mary Barker's wonderful Flower Fairy Books.  Here's her poem for Violets:

The Song of the Dog-Violet Fairy

The wren and robin hop around;

The Primrose-maids my neighbours be;

The sun has warmed the mossy ground;

Where Spring has come, I too am found:

The Cuckoo's call has wakened me!

We're sending you lots of love!

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies.

Vitamin D

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

I hope you're doing well.

Today, as I often do, I thought 'Oh, I haven't checked my 'Fairy of the Day.' I clicked on my app and got the fun little animations and here's who arrived:

VitaminD.jpg

Yesterday, we had the first day of true sunny weather in which everyone in the Bridging Program I coordinate found a reason to be outside sitting in the sun.

Today, when my 'work day' ended I could have gone back into the great outdoors for more air but I was drawn to my studio where I immersed myself in rehearsing a little show I want to do for an 'Open Mic.'

This was my sunshine today.  It fed my soul with a special kind of 'Essence of D'.  Of course, when I get home I'll take a vitamin D pill.

What does this card mean to you? Think about it.  Let me know if you like what comes to mind because I love your stories.

Have fun.

Sending you best wishes,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Fairy of Hope Filled Moments

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

As the growth of new things begins to take form beneath the earth we are filled with lots of energy.

The quietness of winter is subsiding, the strong energy of 'doing' is moving into place.

Since it's easy to become overwhelmed I present this wonderful fairy:

Hope Filled Moments.jpg

The 'Fairy of Hope Filled Moments' announces he is here so we can remember that in each moment there is hope.

Maybe your arms are filled with a happy cat?  Or you're feeling a ray of sun sneaking in a window?  Maybe you're out walking with a friend in nature?

Move from one hope to the next as you move through the patterns of your life.

Have fun!  Smile.  Live

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies.

Fairy of Yes! Yes! Yes!

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

I hope you are doing well and spring is opening up your heart with the sun and promise of green, green, green.

Last week, on the 28th, I had my prototype of the 'Fairy of the Day' app pick, at random, a fairy for me to write about in this blog. I smiled when she showed up.  Here she is:

Fairy91.YesYesYes.jpg

The 'Fairy of Yes! Yes! Yes!' with her statements of "Together" and "Onward" sums up so much of what my experience has been lately.

I've been enjoying working with people on projects.

Some are situations where I work alone and then share my work with someone who adds another part and then hands it back to me or on to another person.

Other situations are in rooms with lots of people and we're moving through a process together by each adding our self to it.

As you know, I'm very invested in this being the 'Year of the Dog' and hold its meaning to be something like 'benevolent bonds that assist us in growing positively.'

Let's all join metaphorical hands and grow forward in our work and play.  We need it!

Much fondness,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

p.s.  Tomorrow, I'm heading up to Montreal with Brian to see the art show for the late, great Leonard Cohen at the MAC Montreal (till April 8th!) Here's the "transitional fairy' I made for him when he passed on:
